We have some fabulous folks here at The Culinary Center of Kansas City, and we just think you should meet them. So, we'll profile some of these extraordinary friends of ours right here on our kcculinary.com website.
If we could describe Executive Chef Jill Garcia Schmidt with one word, it might be PASSIONATE! This seasoned culinarian has passion in spades. We are excited to welcome her to the position of Executive Chef here at The Culinary Center of Kansas City where she will teach classes, of course, but also design menus, manage our kitchen teams, lead all culinary aspects of our teambuildings and private events, and create beautiful dishes for our Dinners on Demand™ program.
Jill grew up in Newton, Kansas, surrounded by family and food. Everything they did, she says, revolved around a table filled with enough food to feed a small army. After her mother passed away, she made it her mission to re-create her Mom's best dishes and baked goods in order to preserve those precious recipes. She also learned to make authentic Mexican cuisine from her Great Grandmother Guadelupe Garcia, and her Grandma Meier taught her "all her secrets to classic comfort food."
Jill loves sharing her passion for food with the world. Her approach to cooking is a lot like everything else she does - full of fun, with a touch of manic perfectionism. She puts her own personal spin on classic dishes and brings her Mexican heritage into the mix whenever possible. We're pleased to welcome Jill to lead the team in our kitchens!
Stop by our CCKC kitchens on November 16 for our 3rd Friday LOCAL Life event in Downtown Overland Park, when Jill will be cooking up some tasty food samples. We'll also have live music by Steve Sterner & Sundown, plus FREE tastings of a holiday cocktail, spirits by SD Strong Distillery and J Rieger, Peter Brum Reisling and Vigilance Cabernet Sauvignon Wines, and samples by Meraki Coffee & Tea, along with tasty nibbles from our Dinners on Demand freezers.
Welcome to our kitchens, Jill!
